Data dictionary

We are pleased to inform you that The Maastricht Study data dictionary is now available for use via the following link: https://demaastrichtstudie.app/data-dictionary. You can access and utilize it to understand the data structure and specifications.

The online submission of requests has been available since April 2026. Please note that this is the initial version of the system. If you have any feedback, please send an email to um-researchdms@maastrichtuniversity.nl

This data dictionary contains in depth information about each variable available. All variables of The Maastricht Study are divided into categories and subcategories. Browse through the category index in the data dictionary to find the categories and variables of your interest. A print version of the category index can be found below. You can also search for variables in the data dictionary by entering keywords in the search box.

Please note that with respect to the GDPR, information about co-owners cannot be found in this open access data dictionary. In time, the data dictionary will be coupled to a new data request application system. As soon as this coupling is a fact, co-owners will be informed automatically after a data request has been submitted to The Maastricht Study. Until then, you can contact The Maastricht Study management team (um-researchdms@maastrichtuniversity.nl) for information on co-owners.
